Completed by course architect Pete Dye and consultant Jack Nicklaus just in the nick of time for the first playing of the Heritage Classic Tournament in 1969, Harbour Town Golf Links was where Arnold Palmer broke a 14-month winless streak after averaging four major victories a year for 13 years before that drought. Not only did Palmer notch the first Heritage Classic victory, but he also won again the following week, and was named “Athlete of the Decade” by the Associated Press, one week after that. Big rewards from a course that calls for every club in the bag.
