The Right Conclusion

The Right Conclusion

It’s been a while, but we still remember the look on his face. A researcher from the leading golf industry magazine conducted a study to find the perfect golf getaway. The magazine had an incomparable subscriber list and unsurpassed industry contacts from whom to gather the intelligence, and yet the findings lead right here to where the researcher was sitting, in a conference room just a stone’s throw from the Sea Pines Circle.

The perfect golf getaway, he concluded, was four friends – or eight – right here on Hilton Head Island – in October. From Swallowtail at Sea Pines, you can make this perfect idea a reality for yourself, your family, or your friends more easily than you might imagine.

Legends of the Fall

Maybe it should not have been so surprising that golfing here in the fall was found to be the ideal. The 32 nearby golf courses are the same in the fall as ever, and the legends inspired by the three courses right here in Sea Pines keep getting refreshed with every round. The one we knew as the Ocean Course was recently redesigned by Davis Love III, himself a frequent fan favorite of the Heritage Classic. Now it is known as Atlantic Dunes.

Heron Point, designed by Pete Dye and refreshed personally in 2014, was named South Carolina Course of the Year in 2014 and appears among Golf Digest’s Best Places to Play.

And what could we add to the thrills inspired by the Harbour Town Golf Links? Completed by course architect Pete Dye and consultant Jack Nicklaus just in the nick of time for the first playing of the Heritage Classic Tournament in 1969, Harbour Town Golf Links was where Arnold Palmer broke a 14-month winless streak after averaging four major victories a year for 13 years before that drought. Not only did Palmer notch the first Heritage Classic victory, but he also won again the following week, and was named “Athlete of the Decade” by the Associated Press, one week after that. Big rewards from a course that calls for every club in the bag.

To say that Hilton Head golf is the stuff of legends is no stretch at all, and in fact it is a feeling many golfers get whenever they tee it up here.

Easier Tee Times and a Gentler Breeze

Several reasons embrace this conclusion that your best golf getaway may be here in the fall. Securing your perfect tee time is even easier then. What we laughingly call traffic has subsided even further. And the fall freshness of our subtropical air seems to invite playing on for another round. A few luxurious weeks of this fall experience are available for folks who book now. In fact, a few summer weeks could still be booked if you move quickly.

Just call Krista at 843.671.0409 and find out what weeks are waiting for you here in a vacation villa of Swallowtail at Sea Pines. Whether it is the perfect golf getaway that you are looking for; a wider view of our world-favorite beaches; or a taste of the big-city restaurant, theater, and arts scene that surprises folks amid so much relaxation, we have the ideal place for you to stay, here in the middle of the original Hilton Head Island dream.
