Six Months of Summer
Fortunate families who celebrate their Swallowtail ownership with our sought-after summer weeks got started, in many cases, making Hilton Head Island their summer getaway when their children were school age. Not only has summer vacation evolved since then, but so have those Swallowtail families – and so has Hilton Head Island.
It seems to us that schools have narrowed their concept of summer – letting out later than May and resuming earlier than September. Conversely, on the way to becoming America’s favorite vacation island, Hilton Head succeeded in broadening the appeal of the “shoulder seasons” – spring and fall – such that today there is much wider appreciation of the various versions of vacation people enjoy so much here.
It was always known to insiders. The weather, birds, fish, and folks who made Hilton Head Island their home have known all along that ours is a six-month summer.
Secrets of Golf Island
Summer begins with a big marker, the RBC Heritage Classic, the PGA tournament in April that many pros look forward to most of all. “Playing the Masters and then packing up the family to head to the Heritage is like winning the Super Bowl and then going to Disney World,” one PGA champion said. The pros look forward to the family feel of Hilton Head Island as much as the every-club-in-your-bag challenge of the memorable Harbour Town Golf Links.
Around Heritage time, a summer wind ushers in days that lengthen to unbelievable measures of beauty. High-season rates and traffic are only three months long, so that leaves a lot of time for the smart vacationer to work with. Some of the vacation villas of Swallowtail in Sea Pines are available to rent, and we make it very easy to do that, here in the center of the original Hilton Head Island dream.
Owners extend their stay or add a different season. Visitors discover how easy it is to rent an ideal vacation home located in the center of the resort design that became a legend, Sea Pines. Midway between the Yacht Basin and the beach, Swallowtail puts everyone in the know, and within easy reach, of the finest ways to enjoy our extraordinary island.
Enjoyed by Generations
Swallowtail at Sea Pines is a vacation residence that people have passed down through the pleasure of generations, too. People who came to rent a week or two sometimes decided that coming back every year would be a good idea. Seeing their kids grow strong and happy in the Forest Preserve, and on the playgrounds and beaches, astride their bikes, and on the hiking trails, with the rhythms of the tidal marshes playing in the background, Swallowtail visitors became Swallowtail owners. Some added another unit or two to their holdings as a gift for the kids. Grown children many times made that choice themselves, too.
